Abstract

In this report, the results are presented of analyses of contaminants in laboratory animals diets, used in toxicological studies between 1985 and 1989. The results are compared with limits formulated by the RIVM as well as those generated by others. The semi-purified SSP-TOX diet did never exceed any limits. However, in this diet the zinc and copper levels were below requirements for rats and mice. The conventional RMH-B, grounded diet did incidentally exceed the RIVM (quality-) levels but not the international limits. This report can be used to generate a procedure for control of contaminant levels in laboratory animal diets.
