Samenvatting
In veel ziekenhuizen heeft de afdeling inkoop een rol, zo niet een sleutelrol, in de afhandeling van recalls. Dit past in het beeld van de afdeling inkoop als poortwachter van ziekenhuis voor de medische hulpmiddelen, zoals IGZ dat in haar rapport 'Staat van de gezondheidszorg 2008' beschreef. Aanbevolen wordt om de afhandeling van recalls via de afdeling Inkoop verder te versterken. De resultaten van het onderzoek geven indicaties voor verbeteringen ten aanzien van de contactpersoon in het ziekenhuis, de communicatie tussen leverancier en ziekenhuis, de interne communicatie in het ziekenhuis en de procedures. De kwaliteit van de ingediende recallprocedures loopt sterk uiteen. Veel praktische zaken worden wel geregeld, maar vaak blijven belangrijke aspecten onderbelicht. In een minderheid van de ziekenhuizen is er één centraal aanspreekpunt voor recalls. In het merendeel van de ziekenhuizen is er per subgroep medische hulpmiddelen wel een contactpunt, maar het is niet duidelijk of deze contactpunten bij de leveranciers bekend zijn.
Abstract
In many hospitals, the purchasing department has a role, if not a key role in the handling of recalls. This fits the image of the purchasing department as sentinel for medical devices, such as the Health Care Inspectorate described in their report 'State of Healthcare 2008'. The results of the study provide indications for improvements with regard to the contact person in the hospital, the communication between supplier and hospital, the internal communication in the hospital and the procedures. The quality of the recall procedures varies widely. Many practical issues are addressed, but there are often important aspects which remain underexposed.
In a minority of hospitals there is a single contact person for recalls. In most hospitals, there are contact persons for subgroups of medical devices, but it is not clear whether the suppliers know of these contact persons.
