English Abstract The results are described of an experimental study into
aqueous extractable concentrations of bromide, chloride, fluoride, sulphate
and sulphide in soil and in raw materials for building purposes and their
relation with the corresponding total anion content. It is concluded that
there is a substancial difference in the release of the anions bromide,
chloride, fluoride and sulphate from soil and raw materials. For soil the
release is not quantitative for all these anions, for raw materials only
bromide and chloride can be quantitatively extracted. In cases of
non-quantitative releases, the extractable amount increases with increasing
pH (4.3 < pH < 14). In general, for aqueous at high pH values extractions
the highest yield is obtained. From the literature it is well-known that
the release of sulphide with the presently applied acid procedure is almost
complete, except in the presence of pyrite (FeS2). For the determination of
this sulphur species an extreme digestion procedure is necessary. Ion
chromatography is suitable as analytical determination technique in most
cases. Problems appear at high ionic strength (high pH values), especially
for fluoride and chloride. In addition the ion chromatographic
determination of fluoride might be less suitable due to possible
interferences of organic acids and the non-detectability of complex
associated fluoride.
ontsluitingsmethode noodzakelijk. Ionchromatografie (IC) is veelal
fluoride.
