English Abstract This report describes the literature on the relations
between residential locations and workplace and the influence of the traffic
and transport system on these relations. . The residential choice and the
choice for work location and changes in this locations are influenced by
many factors. Not only age, income, sex, education and the traffic and
transport system are of importance. Also important seems to be the dynamics
in life cycle of individuals and households, careers in the housing market
and the labour market and mobility careers, dynamics in the housing market
and the labour market and in the transport system, as well as their
relations. . For residential choice and the choice of the workplace
distance between old and new locations seem to be very important. These
distances are strongly related to the migration motives. Many researchers
don't consider differences in this distance. Therefore sometimes relevant
information is lost and a wrong description of reality is
given.
