English Abstract As a result of multi-residue screening for
beta-agonists in growth promoting preparations, premixes, feed and excreta
mabuterol (a close analogue of clenbuterol) was identified as an illegally
used beta- agonist for growth promotion in veal calves. The identification
was based on sample clean-up with multi immunoaffinity chromatography (MIAC)
and detection and identification with gas chromatography-mass
spectrometry.
