English Abstract This report documents the assessment of the influence
of variations in solar activity on climate. First, the literature on
proposed mechanism between UV-radiation and stratospheric ozone and
interactions by way of cosmic ray variations is outlined, followed by a
brief report on correlations between solar activity and climate. Solar
forcings are then compared with other sources of natural variability, in
particular El Ni6o and volcanic eruptions. Finally, the impact of these
three sources of natural variability on global mean temperatures is analysed
using a simple atmosphere-ocean climate model and statistical
techniques.
