English Abstract This report describes the development of a method for
the determination of EDTA in water. The samples are concentrated on an
anion-exchange resin, converted tot the corresponding ester with n-butanol/
acetylchloride and analuysed by gas chromatography equiped with a N/P
detector. The standard addition method is suitable for the analysis of EDTA
in drinking water. In surface water samples some difficulties with the
quantificaiton occured, possibly caused by adsorption of EDTA on particles
present in water and the high conductivity of the water. the accuracy of
the method for surface water samples can be improved by increasing the
number of additions. the analytical procedure is time consuming. Further
investigations to improve the method are required.
