English Abstract
A method is given for the calculation of test values related to the leaching behaviour of inorganic components from the building materials. All calculations are based on the principle of a 'marginal burdening of the soil' in the current definition used by the DGM. The method makes use of elements from the set of leaching tests proposed by the dutch SOSUV-group: for granular building materials the standard column leaching test is selected and for moulded materials the standard diffusion test is selected. Situations under consideration are (1) for granular building materials : open applications, free of groundwater, but open to vertical percolating rainwater and (2) for moulded building materials a situation with continuously moistured surfaces. The latter represents several possible applications as shown by a general and intuitive consideration. These standard situations can be used only for a limited range of applications. The intentional general approach leads to a specific range in the obtained results that is not to be narrowed without further specification of variations in local situations and concludes in indicative mean values only. Additional sources of uncertainty are related to uncertainty in the models used for interpretation of the laboratory tests as such and of the relation between laboratory leaching tests and field situations. Additional research to the distribution in the soil of components leached from the building materials and to the validation of the applied leaching models is recommended.
