English Abstract In the Dutch National Environmental Policy Plans
specific targets have been formulated concerning the reduction of carbon
dioxide emissions. With respect to waste policy a contribution of 1,5
million tons CO2 reduction in 1995 and 3,5 million tons in 2000 has been
formulated. In this report the situation of the following waste streams
will be described for the years 1991 and 1992: - natural materials (organic
fraction of household waste, wood and manure) - synthetic materials
(plastics) - energy-intensive materials (aluminium). These waste streams
can give a major contribution in reaching the targets for CO2 emissions.
The monitoring results presented in this study will be used in further
research, in which the actual effects of waste policy on reduction targets
of CO2-emission will be calculated.
