Antimicrobial resistance threatens the effectiveness of
succesful treatment of infections and is a public health issue with
local, national, and global dimensions.
EARSS performs on-going surveillance of antimicrobial
susceptibility in 7 indicator pathogens causing invasive infections
and monitors variations of antimicrobial resistance in time and
from place to place. Around 800 microbiological laboratories from
31 countries participate and provide the data. EARSS is funded by
the European Commission and the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare
and Sports. |
