Cosmetics Fact Sheet. To assess the risks for the consumer

Factsheet Cosmetica. Ten behoeve van de schatting van de risico's voor de consument

Synopsis

Mathematical models are available for the exposure assessment of compounds in consumer products. The computer program CONSEXPO is used for the calculations. Since the huge number of consumer products does not allow exposure assessment of every product separately, a limited number of main categories containing similar products are defined. Paint, biocides, cosmetics and floor covering are examples of main categories. The information on each main category is described in a fact sheet. this fact sheet supplies information on the use of cosmetics by consumers. The use of cosmetics by consumers is described by means of 36 product categories like shampoo, make-up, lipstick, deodorant and toothpaste. The entire area of the use of cosmetics by consumers is covered with these product categories. Information is supplied about the composition and the use of products within a product category. For exposure assessment of compounds in cosmetics default models and default values wer determined for every product category.
