February 2014, an Ebola outbreak occured in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia. In July-September, patients were reported in the Nigerian cities of Lagos and Port Harcourt. In addition to the epidemic in West Africa there is a small outbreak of Ebola ongoing in three villages in the Equateur province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It involves the villages Lokolia, Boende and Watsi Kengo. There is no link between the outbreak in West Africa and this local outbreak in Congo.
