  • Nanotechnology

    Nanotechnology has multiple applications. However, there is still much uncertainty about the potential risks related to this new technology. To help resolve these uncertainties, RIVM conducts research and provides policy advice to various Dutch ministries.

  • National Immunisation Programme

    The Netherlands has an extensive National Immunisation Programme to protect children against infectious diseases. The programme includes vaccination against 12 potentially fatal infectious diseases.

  • NEVO

    The Dutch Food Composition Database (NEVO) contains data on the composition of foods and dishes eaten frequently by a large part of the Dutch population and contributing sig significantly to their intake of energy and nutrients. Foods of importance for scientific research, and food and nutrition counselling and education are also included.

  • Newborn bloodspot screening
  • Newborn hearing screening

    Babies are tested for hearing loss within four to seven days after birth. This test can also be carried out at the child health care when the child is a few weeks old. Sufficient hearing is essential for babies to learn to talk.

    Noronet is an informal network of scientists working in public health institutes or universities sharing virological, epidemiological and molecular data on norovirus.
