Community Reference Laboratory for Salmonella
Although the Community Reference Laboratory (CRL) for Salmonella website provides information for all CRL’s activities, it is primarily intended for the National Reference Laboratories for Salmonella of the EU member states. The RIVM has functioned as the CRL for Salmonella since its appointment to this post by the European Commission in 1992. 

Chemical Substances Bureau
The Chemical Substances Bureau (BMS in Dutch) carries out statutory tasks commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment. These tasks include the risk assessment of New and Existing Chemicals to humans and the environment. Other BMS tasks include test guidelines and setting environmental quality standards. The BMS website is meant for the chemical industry and governmental authorities.

Concerted action on the molecular epidemiology of tuberculosis
The objective of this website is to reinforce the collaboration between laboratories within Europe and to further explore the possibilities of molecular epidemiology to improve the understanding of the transmission of tuberculosis. By collecting data on typing results of the causative - to an increasing extend - resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates from most European countries, meaningful conclusions can be drawn on the epidemiology to support the tuberculosis control.

Cost of illness

What are the most costly diseases in the Netherlands, and on what type of health care do we spend our money in the Netherlands? How are health-care costs for difference diseases dependent on age and gender? This website is set up to answer these and other questions through its comprehensive overview of Dutch health-care costs in 1999. You also have 400,000 pre-prepared tables to help you choose your cost preference in disease prevention.

Health Impact Assessment database

This website is aimed at anyone and everyone interested in Health Impact Assessment (HIA). It offers a range of HIA reports, tools and background papers, with links to other HIA web pages. You can also publish your own HIA-relevant documents on the site.

WHO Collaborating Centre for the Family of International Classifications

This website accommodates the WHO Collaborating Centre for the Family of International Classifications (FIC) in the Netherlands. The Centre functions as a clearing house for the Dutch-language versions of the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) and other classifications.

Hospital surveillance of infections

PREZIES is a Dutch network for the surveillance of hospital infections. The ultimate aim is to prevent these so-called nosocomial infections, for instance, surgical-site infections, catheter-related sepsis and ventilator-associated pneumonia. The network consists of a number of participating hospitals, the Dutch Institute for Healthcare Improvement (CBO) and the RIVM. The PREZIES site provides general information on the network and links to publications (in pubmed).

EARSS: European Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System

Antimicrobial resistance threatens the effectiveness of treating infections and is a public health issue with local, national and global dimensions. About 800 microbiological laboratories in 31 countries participate in EARSS to monitor variation of antimicrobial resistance in time and place for 7 indicator pathogens causing invasive infections. EARSS is funded by the European Commission and the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. 

SERIDA

SERIDA is a database and software application developed for the government authorities and  related agencies responsible for assessment of substances posing risks to humans and the environment.

CPR18

The Guidelines for Quantitative Risk Assessment (CPR 18E) were set up by the Committee for the Prevention of Disasters (CPR) to calculate the risks of hazardous substances in the Netherlands.
