Chemical analytical tasks for food safety carried out by RIVM are being transferred to RIKILT. These tasks include:
• Research on and laboratory services for veterinary medicines, natural toxins and contaminants;
• National reference tasks for growth-promoting substances and marine biotoxins;
• Community Reference Laboratory for Residues in Foods of Animal Origin specifically for hormonal growth-promoting compounds, sedatives and mycotoxins.

Combining these activities with expertise at RIKILT will strengthen the position of the Netherlands in chemical analysis of foods and animal feed. This move consolidates expertise and state-of-the-art laboratory facilities in a new, well equipped research environment.
