Risk assessment carried out by RIKILT is to be transferred to the RIVM Centre for Substances and Integrated Risk Assessment, except for risk assessment and advice on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) which will continue at RIKILT. The activities transferred to RIVM are:
• Management of the database on the concentrations of residues and contaminants in agricultural products;
• Expertise and modelling of intake of various residues in food;
• Risk assessment of substances in food and feed and policy advice. This transfer of expertise makes the RIVM Centre for Substances and Integrated Risk Assessment the key centre for potential health risks of chemical substances in food in the Netherlands and in other countries. The combination of research into methods, modelling, and advising provides an optimal link between science and policy making. This enables RIVM to provide comprehensive and efficient services to support regulatory and supervisory authorities. Related expertise and staff at RIKILT on Nutrition and Health is to be transferred to the RIVM Centre for Nutrition and Health. |
