English Abstract The Unit Teratology, Endocrinology and Perinatal
Screening of the National Institute of Public Health and Environmental
Protection has a service for physicians, midwives and pharmacists which
answers by telephone questions concerning teratogenicity and reproductive
toxicity of exogenous agents. In this report attention will be paid to
operational methods and functioning of the service, to workload and to facts
about the last five years. Figures and other material which is added
separately illustrate the text. The results of some activities are
described among others written inquiry among the callers concerning the
functioning of the Teratology Information Service and an inquiry by
telephone among psychiatrists concerning prescription in case of pregnancy.
Attention is also paid to the European Network of Teratology Information
Services (ENTIS) which has been founded in 1990. Publications concerning
the information service are mentioned and enclosed in the
appendices.
