English Abstract
The nuclear power station in Borssele (KCB) measures how much radioactivity the station discharges via the nuclear waste water system and the nuclear ventilation system. RIVM checks these measurements eight times a year. Via these counterchecks, RIVM determines whether the analyses carried out by the nuclear power station itself are reliable. KCB takes the samples to be analysed at intervals throughout the year.

As was the case in previous years, the gamma analyses of waste water from the counterchecks in 2018 generally agree with the results of the nuclear power station.

The agreement with regard to the 3H data in waste water was reasonable but there is still room for improvement. Neither the nuclear power station nor RIVM found any strontium isotopes or alpha activity in the waste water.

In the ventilation air samples from periods 2, 3, and 7, RIVM found a slight quantity of 131I. KCB did not find any gamma activity. The results of the measurements of 3H and 14C in ventilation air, sampled with a zeolite cartridge, agree reasonably well.

The Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS) commissions RIVM to carry out these counterchecks every year.

De kerncentrale Borssele (KCB) meet hoeveel radioactiviteit de centrale loost via het nucleair afvalwatersysteem en het nucleair ventilatiesysteem. Het RIVM controleert deze metingen acht keer per jaar. Met deze 'contra-expertise' controleert het RIVM of de analyses die de kerncentrale zelf uitvoert, betrouwbaar zijn. De te analyseren monsters worden verspreid over het jaar door KCB genomen.

Net als in voorgaande jaren komen de gamma-analyses van afvalwater uit de contra-expertise in 2018 op hoofdlijnen overeen met de resultaten van de kerncentrale.

De overeenkomst in de 3H-data in afvalwater was redelijk, maar kan nog worden verbeterd. Zowel de kerncentrale als het RIVM heeft geen strontium-isotopen en alfa-activiteit in het afvalwater aangetroffen.

In ventilatielucht heeft het RIVM in de monsters van periode 2, 3 en 7 een geringe hoeveelheid 131I aangetroffen. KCB heeft geen gammaactiviteit aangetroffen. De resultaten van de bepaling van 3H en 14C in ventilatielucht, bemonsterd met een zeolietpatroon, kwamen redelijk overeen.

Het RIVM voert de contra-expertises jaarlijks uit in opdracht van de Autoriteit Nucleaire Veiligheid en Stralingsbescherming (ANVS).
