In this report, results of the determinations of total
organic and inorganic carbon analysis are reported for the project
"Orientating investigations of Polonium-210 and other natural radionuclides
in Dutch aquatic ecosystems", projectnr. 248476. The method used is a
modification of the method described by Froelich and is based on elemental
analysis. Sediment samples from several locations of sea and river water
show a large variation of the carbon content. The organic carbon
concentration varies from 2.78 to 22.42 % the inorganic carbon varies from
1.25 to 5.66 %. The analyses were run in duplicate with a mean standard
deviation of 0.1 %.
