English Abstract
On behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the National Institute for Public Health and Environment manages the Internet health and healthcare portal kiesBeter.nl (Make better choices). This portal provides citizens with information they need to make personal decisions in healthcare. This report discusses the results obtained during 2005, the "year of birth" of the portal. In 2005 1.7 million people paid a visit to the website. Of those visitors, 27 thousand subscribed to the newsletter, which is released at least once every quarter. Early 2006, 23 percent was aware of kiesBeter.nl. Compared to other websites in the realm of health and healthcare, it is slightly stronger perceived to be independent. Site visitors constitute a balanced sample of the Dutch population.

In opdracht van het Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport werkt het Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu aan de zorgportal kiesBeter.nl. in de zorg en biedt ze hiertoe relevante informatie. Vandaar de slogan "KiesBeter.nl wijst u de weg in de zorg". Dit rapport bespreekt de resultaten die zijn behaald gedurende 2005, het "geboortejaar". In 2005 bezochten 1,7 miljoen mensen de site. Daarvan hebben er zich 27 duizend geabonneerd op de nieuwsbrief, die ten minste eens per kwartaal verschijnt. Begin 2006 had kiesBeter.nl een naamsbekendheid van 23 procent. Ten opzichte van andere sites op het gebied van zorg en gezondheid wordt kiesBeter.nl iets meer dan gemiddeld als onafhankelijk gezien. De bezoekerspopulatie vormt een doorsnede van de Nederlandse bevolking.
