English Abstract The Bacillus cereus method, described in ISO 7932
(second edition, 1993), was validated by order of the European Commission
(Standards, Measurement and Testing Program). Cheese, meat, dried potato
and a reference material were examined by 20 laboratories in 17 countries in
Europe and the USA. PEMBA medium was included along with MEYP in the study
to detect possible differences in performance. Repeatability and
reproducibility values appeared non-related to the type of food or the
concentration of B. cereus present in the test sample. The general
repeatability value found for the food samples was 0.29 log10 units
(difference) or 2.0 (ratio), and for reproducibility, this was 0.42 log10
units (difference) or 2.6 (ratio). For the reference material, the
repeatability was 0.11 log10 units(difference) or 1.3 (ratio) and the
reproducibility, 0.22 log10 units (difference) or 1.7 (ratio). MEYP and
PEMBA showed similar performance.

gedroogd aardappelpoeder en een referentiemateriaal zijn door 20 laboratoria
uit 17 landen in Europa en de USA onderzocht. Naast MEYP is in dit
onderzoek ook PEMBA medium meegenomen om een mogelijk verschil in resultaten
te detecteren. De herhaalbaarheid en reproduceerbaarheid bleken niet
gerelateerd te zijn aan het type voedingsmiddel of de concentratie B. cereus
in het monster. Voor de voedingsmiddelen werd een algemene herhaalbaarheid
van 0.29 log10 eenheden (verschilwaarde) of 2.0 (ratio) gevonden, en voor
de reproduceerbaarheid was dit 0.42 log10 eenheden (verschilwaarde) of 2.6
(ratio). Voor het referentiemateriaal was de herhaalbaarheid 0.11 log10
eenheden (verschilwaarde) of 1.3 (ratio) en de reproduceerbaarheid 0.22
log10 eenheden (verschilwaarde) of 1.7 (ratio). MEYP en PEMBA gaven
vergelijkbare resultaten.
