English Abstract This report describes the results of a comparison of
two analytical procedures for the determination of fluoride in physiological
fluids: SOP nr. ARO/024* and SOP nr. ARO/073. Both methods are based on
the gaschromatographic determination of trimethylfluorosilane (TMFS)
resulting from the derivatization of fluoride with trimethylchlorosilane
(TMCS) under acid conditions. Materials used for this comparison were: 21
rat plasma samples from an experimental animal study with hydrogenfluoride,
a pooled sample of pig serum and an urine reference sample with certified
fluoride content from the "Behring Institut" in Germany. Results obtained
with both methods for rat plasma and the reference sample do not differ
significantly. However, those for the pooled serum do! The average result
obtained with SOP nr. ARO 024* for the reference urine is identical with
the target reference value for fluoride. Precision of results for SOP nr.
ARO/024* is better than for SOP nr. ARO/073. However, this difference in
precision is not significant. SOP nr. ARO/073 will be replaced by the
procedure described in SOP nr. ARO/024*.
