English Abstract During the 1990-1994 period nicarbazin-concentrations
were determined in samples from the stomach contents, feed, manure/straw,
and meat and liver from broilers and other poultry for consumption. Both
recirculation and carry-over of nicarbazine during the production of
nicarbazine-free feed were concluded to contribute to these nicarbazine
concentrations. A comparative carry-over study was conducted to quantify
the contribution of carry-over. From the results it is concluded that the
production of finishing feed after the production of feed with nicarbazine
can be problematic. The percentages of carry-over for nicarbazine and
cobalt in this experiment were comparable, from which it is concluded that
cobalt can serve as an indicator for the carry-over of nicarbazine. The
concentration of nicarbazine in the first and second batches of finishing
feed after the production of feed with nicarbazine still is relative high ,
flushing the system with several charges of other feed prior to the
production of finishing feed will be necessary.

Uit de studie in de periode 1990-1994 waarvan de
gehalten aan het coccidiostaticum nicarbazine uit materialen als maaginhoud,
afmestvoer, strooisel, vlees en lever van vleeskuikens en ander
consumptiegevogelte werden gemeten, werd geconcludeerd dat zowel
recirculatie van nicarbazine als versleping ('carry over') van nicarbazine
tijdens de productie van nicarbazine vrij veevoeder een bijdrage leveren aan
het nicarbazinegehalte zoals dat in monsters maaginhoud werd aangetroffen.
Op grond van een kobalt-nicarbazine proef die de bijdrage van de versleping
kwantificeert kan geconcludeerd worden dat de productie van afmestvoer na
startvoer voor de residueproblematiek een knelpunt is. Met name de perslijn
draagt hiertoe in grote mate bij. De verslepingspercentages voor
nicarbazine en kobalt zijn in deze proef vergelijkbaar. Het
verslepingspercentage van kobalt kan gehanteerd worden voor nicarbazine. De
concentratie nicarbazine in de eerste en tweede partij afmestvoer na de
productie van startvoer met nicarbazine toevoeging is nog aanzienlijk. Het
is derhalve noodzakelijk om na een charge startvoer eerst enkele
spoelcharges te produceren alvorens afmestvoer geproduceerd
wordt.
