English Abstract A method has been developed to assess the environmental
quality at ecodistrict level, specifically directed to various land use
functions. Using this method, environmental quality has been assessed for
two ecodistricts: the calcereous dunes and the lowland peat area. The
policy objectives of the ecodistricts are formulated in terms of desired
environmental characteristics. A limited set of abiotic and biotic
indicators is used to enable a quantitative comparison between the desired
state and the actual state. Results are presented in a so-called AMOEBE
figure. In a concurrent report results are presented for each parameter
individually.
