English Abstract
This overview of technological measures for mayor environmental issues of the printing industry is worked out with a method developed by the RIVM/LAE the first half of 1992. The main goal of this study is to gain information for a research programm on the Printing Industry for the 'Regulation on the Advancement of Environmental Technology'. On the second hand the information can be used for a technological supplement for a process-description on the printing industry and future environmental surveys. Nine mayor environmental problems are identified for the printing industry. Based on existing literature and interviews with experts of the branch, 23 technological solutions with high environmental potential are selected. For these solutions environmental aspects, (international) developments and technological and economical bottlenecks are worked out. About 15 of these solutions should be supported because of the potential high environmental impact. Beside this, research on printing systems supported by ink-manufacturers, printers and manufacturers of machinery should have the highest priority.
