English Abstract
As a result of earlier investigations it turned out that the site of the former gas-works of the city of the Hague is severely polluted with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, cyanides and volatile organic compounds. In this report the results are given of the assessment of the exposure of the users of some buildings at the location. The measurements covered the possible presence of PAH, cyanides, hydrogen sulfide, phenols or VOC in the air of working rooms, offices and crawl-spaces and in outdoor air. The concentrations in the cwawl-spaces showed to be at outdoor level and at a lower level than the concentrations in the working rooms. The concentrations in the offices and working rooms were comparable with those in living rooms on not polluted soil. On basis of these results it was found unlikely that the soil pollution on the gaswork site will pose a risk to public health.
