English Abstract The primary task of the National Radioactivity
Monitoring Network (LMR) is the early detection of major nuclear incidents
and the provision during such events of geographical information about the
contamination. After a test period with a limited number of monitors, the
LMR became fully operational in March 1990. This report is intended to give
information concerning the operationality of the network in 1990. For the
interpretation and presentation of the data, the "raw" data (ten-minute
values as stored in the LMR database) are processed to mean values over an
hour, day, week, month and year. For the validation of the data,
restrictions are placed on the range. Additionally, in an averaging period
at least 80% of the data have to be available and valid.
