English Abstract The report contains an information analysis for the
second version of the Expert supporting system MEI. The purpose of this
system is to analyse and forecast the implementation of environmentally
friendly technology in the industrial sector. Important output variables
are technology use and process emissions. Starting-point for the
information analysis was a prototype of MEI (version 1) and a list with
conceptual and technical improvements. The main concept of the model could
be described using the prototype (version 1), the improvements list and
further user input. From this description, the general-user functions of
the model were analysed. In the next step, the data requirements were
described, resulting in a data model. A flow diagram of calculations could
then be made with the data model and the main calculation rules. This
information analysis is the basis for the technical design of the new MEI
(version 2), while the data model has been implemented as a database
structure.

Om een operationele versie van het MEI model (versie 2)
te kunnen maken is een informatie-analyse uitgevoerd. Het MEI model is
bedoeld om de implementatie van milieuvriendelijke techniek in de industrie
sector te kunnen analyseren en voorspellen. Belangrijke output is het
techniekgebruik en de procesemissies. Het uitgangspunt voor deze analyse
was het prototype van MEI (versie 1) en een lijst met conceptuele en
technische verbeterpunten. Met de lijst verbeterpunten en gebruikers
informatie is het model in algemene zin beschreven. Hieruit zijn de
belangrijkste gebruiksfuncties gedestilleerd. Hierna konden de data
behoeften van het model beschreven worden, hetgeen is vastgelegd in een data
model. Met het data model en de rekenregels is een stroomdiagram van de
berekeningen afgeleid. Deze informatie analyse is de basis voor een
technisch ontwerp voor het nieuwe MEI model, en het opzetten van een
geschikte database structuur. Een korte beschrijving van beschikbare
software voor uitvoering is ook opgenomen in dit rapport, inclusief
argumenten voor een software keuze en een algemene
architectuur.
