RIVM welcomed the Director General of ANCSEP Tunisia, Mr Mechichi on 11 and 12 December 2018. Tunisia's National Agency of Sanitary and Environmental Control of Products (ANCSEP) visited RIVM for the completion of a twinning project regarding the effects of environmental pollution on health.  Countries involved in this twinning project are France (represented by the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety, ANSES), Tunisia and the Netherlands.

During the visit, regulations between the countries were compared. Also, risk estimates were made for Tunisia, and measures proposed based on the highest assessed risks. RIVM has provided a course on soil and groundwater pollution and a course in the field of radiation. ANCSEP wants to develop into a national reference institute for risk analyses in the field of health and the environment. In the meeting with Mr. Mechichi and RIVM management, there was much overlap in the focus areas of ANCSEP and RIVM: including food for animals and humans (including residues of plant protection products in vegetables), quality of drinking water (Legionella), medicines and vaccines, medicines, biological products, cosmetic products and risks of environmental pollution such as noise, radiation, water quality, waste, soil contamination.
