After the approval of his nomination on the proposal of Minister Ollongren of the Interior and Kingdom Relations on June 1 of this year, Professor J. (Hans) Brug officially started today in his position as director-general of RIVM.
Hans Brug was formerly Dean of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. Before his present position, he has worked as Dean and member of the Executive Board at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam. Previously he held the position of director of the EMGO Institute for Health and Care Research in Amsterdam.
Brug obtained a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from Wageningen University & Research and a PhD in Health Sciences at Maastricht University.
His appointment was based on the recruitment procedure for members of the Top Management Group of the Dutch Senior Civil Service.
