Research on bundled payment

Onderzoek op het gebied van integrale bekostiging : Een inventarisatie in opdracht van de Evaluatiecommissie Integrale Bekostiging

The Committee on the Evaluation of Bundled Payment (EIB) got the assignment of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports to monitor the developments around bundled payment in the period 2010-2012. In June 2012, the committee will report to what extent the preconditions of bundled payment are met and whether the intended effects are realised. The EIB is supported in her work by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). One of the tasks of the RIVM is compiling an inventory of finished and ongoing studies on bundled payment. The aim of this inventory is to provide the EIB with relevant information in a structured way, thus to enable them to weigh, interpret and integrate research on bundled payment in their report to the Minister. The inventory shows that finished studies particularly provide information on to what extent (imminent) competition and negotiations with the health care insurers influence the price and quality of the contracts and to what extent transparency regarding the quality of care has been realised. In the next months, a number of the ongoing studies will be concluded and more study results regarding the predicted cost reduction of bundled payment will become available.
