The number of new patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19 increased to 538 admissions last week. That is 266 more admissions than in the previous week.

In the past week from 14-20 July 2021, the reported number of people who tested positive for COVID-19 increased by 34% compared to the previous week.

In the past week from 7-13 July 2021, the number of reported positive tests increased more than sixfold (+508%) compared to the previous week. This increase was observed in all security regions.

More than 95% of the 1,741 participants in RIVM’s LongCOVID study, who reported long-term symptoms after COVID-19, had mild symptoms during the acute phase of the infection.

In 2020, the year of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, resistant bacteria were not found more often in patients in the Netherlands than before the outbreak.

In the past week from 30 June to 6 July 2021, the number of reported positive COVID-19 tests doubled (+103%) compared to the previous week. This increase was observed in all security regions.

Staying 1.5 metres apart seems to be more and more difficult for people to manage.

The total mortality rate in the Netherlands was significantly elevated in the week of 30 April to 6 May 2020. However, excess mortality was much lower than in previous weeks.

Personal hygiene measures, such as not shaking hands, or using paper tissues, are not considered a problem by most Dutch people.

The number of new nursing homes with COVID-19 patients is stabilising.  New locations are still being added every day, but not as many as in March and the first half of April (see Figure 1).
