This week, early indicators were added to the sewage measurements page on the Coronavirus Dashboard provided by the national government. These values help to clarify the measurements by indicating how serious the situation is.

The delta variant of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is occurring more and more often in the Netherlands.

The number of people in the Netherlands who tested positive for COVID-19, hospital admissions and ICU admissions is continuing to decrease. The downward trend is clearly positive.

In the past calendar week, there were 43% fewer hospital admissions of patients with COVID-19 compared to the week before.

In the week from 17 to 23 March, 46,005 people received a positive test result for COVID-19, an increase of 16% compared to the week before that. The reproduction number continued to rise, from 1.06 on 1 March to 1.11 on 8 March.

In the week from 10 to 16 March, 39,527 people received a positive test result for COVID-19, nearly 25% more than in the week before that. The reproduction number completely above 1 this week.

In the week from 2 to 9 March, 31,959 people received a positive test result for COVID-19, about the same as in the week before that. More than 360,000 people were tested, an increase of nearly 14% compared to the week before that.

The number of people who were tested for SARS-CoV-2 increased by 20% last week. The number of people who tested positive rose by 7%. The reproduction number also rose above 1.

Compliance with the coronavirus measures in the Netherlands, such as the night-time curfew, working from home and avoiding crowds, is still high.

3,588 new COVID-19 infections were reported last week. That is 425 fewer confirmed cases reported than the week before that.
