Cervical cancer screening programme

Screening for cervical cancer focuses on women between thirty and sixty years old. Once every five years, women in this age group are invited for a 'smear test'. The aim of the screening is the early detection of cervical cancer and the conditions that lead to cervical cancer.

This webpage contains information about the screening, its organisation and backgrounds.

At this moment, more detailed background information about your invitation and the screening programme and procedures are only available in Dutch.

We can offer an English version of theĀ folder. There is also an English version available of the animation about the screening procedure on our Dutch site.
