European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training.

This programme has provided training and practical experience in intervention epidemiology for European Union medical practitioners, public-health nurses, microbiologists, veterinarians and other professionals with public health experience and a keen interest in epidemiology.

RIVM was one of the national centres for surveillance and control of communicable diseases in the European Union participating in the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET).

The programme was funded on a project basis by the European Commission and the EU European Union (European Union) Member States and was hosted at the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control (SMI), in Stockholm, Sweden. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) gradually took over the coordination of the programme as the European Commission funded the project components in 2006 and 2007.
