A Rapid Risk Assessment (RRA) template for environmental emergencies has been adapted from the ECHEMNET methodology which assesses risks from incidents involving chemical cross-border health threats. The template has a number of sections aimed to capture Hazard Assessment, Exposure Assessment, Health Assessment, Environmental Assessment and Social & Cross-sectoral Factors. Where applicable, the RRA also identifies and signposts useful tools that can aid in identifying and quantifying the risks from an environmental event, such as the Flash Environmental Assessment Tool (FEAT) and the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) tool. Within the RRA methodology, an impact assessment tool is being included. This tool will allow risk assessors to evaluate the potential impact of public health, environmental and cross-sectoral hazards. It will be presented pictorially to allow for a quick comparison between the potential impacts in each area.
