Nanomaterial FAte and Speciation in the Environment; Assessment of environmental fate of nanomaterials
NanoFase has strongly increased the insight into the processes determining the environmental fate of nanomaterials at various spatial scales. These insights were implemented in models suited for basin-specific quantification of the fate of nanoparticles in aquatic and terrestrial systems. Thereupon, the insights were used in the development of the nano-specific multicompartmental fate model Simplebox-4-Nano (S4N). RIVM developed S4N as an extension of the Simplebox-model previously developed for the fate assessment of soluble chemicals.
NanoFASE was a 4-year collaboration (2015 - 2019) to create an integrated Framework for Exposure Assessment of nanomaterials released in the environment.
More information about NanoFASE outcomes is available in the final brochure.
