This report gives information about the cervical cancer screening programme in 2023, compared to the previous four years. The results are presented based on a defined set of indicators, like participation rate, referral rate and outcomes. The purpose of the report is to monitor the quality of the cervical cancer screening programme and to signalize important trends.

    Cervical cancer is most common in women between the ages of 30 and 60.  Every year about 900 people in The Netherlands get cervical cancer, of which about 200 die. Thanks to the population screening, precancerous stages of cervical cancer can be detected early.
