Dutch One Health approach

During the site visit to RIVM, the Dutch One Health approach to the signalling and control of zoonoses will be presented, as well as lessons learned.

The Netherlands is a densely populated country with high numbers of livestock and pet animals. Therefore, high quality systems for surveillance, signalling and control, and research on zoonoses are of utmost importance.  A zoonoses risk analysis structure has been implemented by using an One Health approach. RIVM is the coordinator of this human-veterinary integrated structure and is involved in a broad range of zoonoses research activities.

RIVM is the research and knowledge centre of the Dutch government with respect to public health and the environment. RIVM works to prevent and control outbreaks of infectious diseases including zoonoses.
