Charles Wijnker studied Economy at Maastricht University. He started his career at the Dutch central bank and the Dutch Ministry of Finance, where he was head of a unit of the Financial Markets department and held a number of other positions. Between 2014 and 2017, he was Director of the Labour Market and Socio-Economic Affairs department at the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. Between 2017 and 2021, Charles served as Deputy Director-General of Health and Director of the Nutrition, Health Protection and Prevention department at the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. In his last year there, he was also acting Director-General of Health.
