Chantal Reusken is virologist, researcher and expert in the field of emerging viruses, with a focus on viruses that are transmitted by animals, mosquitoes, midges, sandflies and ticks. She works as top-expert Virology at the Centre for Infectious Disease Control of RIVM. Furthermore, she works as professor in “Emerging Viruses in One Health Context” at the faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University.
Reusken heads the European Union Reference laboratory for Public Health on Vector-borne Viral Pathogens and various national reference laboratories. She is chair of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Laboratory Preparedness and Response for High Threat Pathogens and Biorisk, and has an advisory role at various supranational organisations including WHO and ECDC.
