Daniëlle Schiet is Director of Prevention Programmes and Public Health Upscaling.
I look forward to working with our colleagues in the domain and at RIVM on continuing to build the new organisation and working with our partners on the vital mission we have to promote public health. Along with many colleagues, we celebrated the launch of this important new domain on 30 October 2025. We are off to a good start.
After spending 23 years working in policy at various government ministries in The Hague, Daniëlle transferred to RIVM. In her final role in The Hague, she served as Director of Education Staff and Primary Education at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW). Before that, she formally advised the Prime Minister on topics related to health, welfare and sport as well as education, culture and science, serving at the Ministry of General Affairs. Between September 2015 and May 2018, she was acting director of Childcare at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW).
Prevention Programmes and Public Health Upscaling is a new domain at RIVM, with two primary tasks: to organise prevention programmes, such as population screening, immunisation programmes and other screenings, and to ensure that the Netherlands can rapidly scale up the public health response during large-scale infectious disease outbreaks. Within the domain, we work closely with partners in the chain and prioritise the needs of the Dutch population. In doing so, the domain contributes to public health protection, focusing on prevention as well as crisis response.
