Breast Cancer Screening Programme
The Dutch National Breast Cancer Screening Programme is designed for women between 50 and 75 years of age. Once every 2 years, women in this age group are invited for a mammogram.
This report gives information about the breast cancer screening programme in 2024, compared to the previous four years. The results are presented based on a defined set of indicators, like participation rate, referral rate and outcomes. The purpose of the report is to monitor the quality of the breast cancer screening programme and to signalize important trends.
This report updates the calculation of the participation rate; see the explanation in the document. For example, with the old calculation, the participation rate was 70.3% in 2023, and with the new calculation, the participation rate was 66.7% in 2023.
