Air quality Climate change and air quality strongly influence each other. RIVM measures and calculates the levels of air pollution in the Netherlands and studies the effects of air pollution and climate change on nature and health.
Video: Air quality Air pollution is hazardous to health and the environment. It is important to limit the levels of air pollutants. RIVM monitors the amount of these substances in the air, researches effects of air pollution on health and environment and delivers information to government authorities as basis for their policy decisions.
Update 7 - 12 May: Expedition on sea ice Weblog by Bernice Noteboom, climate reporter on Arctic March, a science mission in East Greenland to measure aerosols and black carbon. RIVM supports this research by providing knowledge about air pollution and the effects it has on the climate system.
Arctic March: Expedition climate change and the role of air pollution Arctic March is an initiative by climate reporter and documentary filmmaker Bernice Notenboom. By venturing into extreme expeditions in the polar region (Arctic March), Notenboom attempts to focus attention on climate change and the role of air pollution in this. RIVM supports these expeditions by providing instruments to carry out air measurements and by analysing and interpreting the results of these measurements.
