The Netherlands wants to donate just as many COVID-19 vaccines to other countries as we use ourselves. Wherever possible, we donate vaccines through Covax, the international cooperation programme. And to avoid waste, we also donate directly from our own inventory. This video explains how this works and what role RIVM has in this process.

The Netherlands wants to donate just as many COVID-19 vaccines to other countries as we use ourselves.
Wherever possible, we donate vaccines through Covax, the international cooperation programme.
And to avoid waste, we also donate directly from our own inventory.
RIVM arranges transport for these donations.
First we investigate how many vaccines a donation country needs, and what kind.
We also look at the shelf life of the vaccines we have in stock...
and the number of doses we need for our own vaccination campaign.
Then we organise transport...
and assist countries in preparing properly for the arrival of the vaccines.
For example, we help arrange the necessary documentation...
and ensure that the vaccines are at the right temperature when they arrive.
Throughout the process, we maintain contact with a donation country...
about vaccine rollout and provide support where necessary.
This is how RIVM ensures that the donated vaccines arrive safely...
and can be deployed quickly.
