The WHO CC Smallpox Vaccine staff are trained virologists, with extensive knowledge of human and animal viruses. Their experience includes vaccine development at the former Netherlands Vaccine Institute (NVI), influenza vaccine assessments for World Health Organization and general virus diagnostics at RIVM's Centre for Infectious Diseases Research, Diagnostics and Screening (IDS).
