RIVM and the OECD Working Party on Health Care Quality Outcomes
RIVM participates in the OECD Working Party on Health Care Quality Outcomes (HCQO). Concept indicators are presented, discussed, and written input can be provided. This process results in widely supported indicators that are then tested and measured in member states. The indicators are internationally recognised and published in OECD flagship publications such as the biennial Health at a Glance report, as well as online on the OECD Data Explorer.
Participation in meetings of the Working Party HCQO and related expert groups
The meetings of the Working Party HCQO take place twice a year. In addition, there are expert groups or workshops that occur more frequently, but irregularly (such as the Expert Group ‘Integrated Care’ and ‘Workshop on Long-term Care’). RIVM participates in these meetings. Reviewing documents in preparation for these groups is also part of the work, as well as providing feedback after the meetings.
Coordination of surveys and archive requests
RIVM acts as coordinator of survey requests. Coordination of surveys involves filling in and coordinating HCQO surveys on specific aspects of healthcare quality and data governance in the Netherlands. In addition to coordinating the surveys of the WP on HCQO, the RIVM, as a core partner in the National Node for International Health Information, is responsible for the coordination and, where possible, the completion of other OECD and WHO requests (often in the form of surveys).
