mensen wachten op vaccin

People with a medical condition who are eligible for an annual seasonal flu vaccination will be invited for a COVID-19 vaccination in phases, starting on Thursday, 6 May. This involves people born between 1961 and 2003. This group will receive an invitation in the next few weeks.

The invitation contains a specific code for making an appointment with the Municipal Health Service (GGD). This can be done online at http://www.coronavaccinatie-afspraak.nl/ or by telephone, by calling a special telephone number. This group will receive the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine from the GGD. This involves an estimated 1.5 million people who can make an appointment after receiving an invitation.

GPs have made a selection of the patients in their practice who are normally eligible for the seasonal flu vaccination. They have an additional risk of becoming ill due to COVID-19. Starting on 6 May, invitations for people from this group will arrive in batches of about 175,000. Within 2 to 3 weeks, the majority of this group will be able to schedule an appointment at the GGD. The invitations will be sent to people all across the Netherlands. The invitation is personal and non-transferable. It is only possible to make an appointment with the GGD after receiving the letter with the code. It is very important to bring the personal invitation to the appointment.

Two invitations

It is possible that people in this group will receive two invitations. For example, they could be invited now based on their medical condition, but may sometimes already have been invited via a different route, for example because they work in healthcare, or were born in 1961 or 1962. People who have already been vaccinated can throw away the second invitation.

Schedule for the vaccination campaign

The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) determines the order in which groups are vaccinated. The advisory reports of the Health Council of the Netherlands are used as guidance. The start date for vaccination of the various target groups depends on vaccine availability.
