As of today, people born in 1939 or before can schedule an appointment for a COVID-19 booster vaccination with the Municipal Public Health Services (GGDs). It is not necessary to wait for the invitation letter. The best way to make an appointment is online, at www.coronavaccinatieafspraak.nl. If that does not work, you can also call 0800-7070 to make an appointment by phone. Please be aware that this will involve a longer waiting time.
Partners may also accompany you for a booster vaccination if they are at least 60 years old. In that case, the appointment must be made by telephone. When you call to make the appointment, the partner must also be present to give consent over the phone.
When to get the booster
The booster vaccination can be scheduled 6 months after the last COVID-19 vaccination. If you tested positive for COVID-19 since your last vaccination, you can schedule the appointment 6 months after having COVID-19. These conditions also apply to the partner. The CoronaCheck app states the date of your last vaccination.
People who are unable to travel to a GGD vaccination site on their own or with assistance do not have to do anything at this time. They will receive an additional notice for vaccination at home.
mRNA vaccines
The booster dose will be administered with mRNA vaccines (Moderna or Pfizer). It does not matter which vaccine was received before. It is not possible to choose which vaccine.
