Abstract

In the framework of the project STRAVE (radiation levels and exposures in the Netherlands) the exposure of the population in the Netherlands to the various sources of ionizing radiation was examined. In this final report an overall picture of these exposure levels in the year 1988 is given. Using a consistent methodology detailed information of these sources is given on number of sources, critical pathways and groups of exposed persons, radiation doses, dose distributions, time dependent tendencies and a comparison with doses in other countries. Furthermore, for each source an indication of individual risk is given, using a uniform risk factor of 0.025 Sv-1. The proposed policy regarding these risks is also given.
